Yesterday it was announced Ian Tate, formerly of Brownstone, Rathbun’s Blue Plate, Nova, and The Slow Bone, was hired to oversee the kitchens of Salum and Komali. I contacted Anastacia “AQ” Quinones of Komali to find out how this affected her job. “I didn’t want to say anything until they found a replacement,” Quinones says. “I’ve been gone since mid-September. I have a newborn and I need to spend more quality time with my daughter.” She has taken a daytime job as a teacher at Molina High School. Quinones joined the staff at Komali after her short stint at Alma, the regional Mexican restaurant that closed in October 2011.
