Gertrude Stein Was Right

|

Pretty as a picture and preserved for all posterity, the official portrait of Council-woman Rose Renfroe is finally hanging in the hallowed halls of City Hall. Well, maybe not all that perfect. After all, since the photo was taken (months ago), Renfroe has lost weight, gotten rid of her bouffant hairdo and has undergone extensive dental work. The portrait barely resembles the woman from Oak Cliff today.

Although rumors have circulated that a reshot was ordered, the studio, Gittings, is quick to insist that Mrs. Renfroe selected her portrait from her original sitting. Gittings provides the portraits as a public service.
