Our new editorial intern Katie Minchew braved crowds of socialites to attend last night’s Cattle Baron’s Ball Entertainment Reveal Party at the brand new Morton’s The Steakhouse. Take it away, Katie:

Last night, the new McKinney and Pearl location of Morton’s The Steakhouse hosted a location-preview reception followed by the 2011 Cattle Baron’s Ball Entertainment Reveal Party. In attendance: reveal-event chairs Sarah Fay Egan and Jacquelin Sewell, along with the 2011 Cattle Baron’s Ball Chair, Jennifer Dix.

Chris Artinian, president, CEO, and director of Morton’s, spoke of the new location with unbridled enthusiasm. Especially Bar 12-21, where the night’s signature drink, the Cattle Baron Rhinestone Cocktail, flowed freely while an array of Atlantic salmon, beefsteak tomatoes with red onion, 48-ounce porter house steaks, Chilean sea bass, pineapple-pepper salsa, and oysters both overwhelmed and impressed.

Jennifer Dix, chair of this year’s ball, announced the Ball’s entertainment:. Dierks Bentley, Darius Rucker, and Clint Black. The crowd went wild—lots of “woohoos” and “yeehaws” for an assembly so sophisticatedly dressed.
Unfortunately, the live auction was a total flop. Nobody seemed willing to fork over the $2,000 for a onstage serenade from Dierks Bentley. “You are going to be the star of the show,” the fast-talking man kept saying with a smile, but everyone had gone back to their cocktails and conversation, and they finally gave up and saved the serenade auction item for another day.
