Disher Review #6: N9NE Steakhouse

|

This one made me laugh out loud. Dishers rock.

We walked into this weirdly monochromatic cavern bookended by two disco pillars.  The noise level was sorority-house-rush-week despite the restaurant being only 75% of capacity.  We were seated by the sadly wasted real estate that was designed as a champagne and caviar bar—evidently, we Texans don’t cotton to fishberry jam because there wasn’t a sole sitting around the entire circular structure.  (My S/O commented it was in the shape of a zero, appropriately.)

RW menu was front and center, with suggestions for pricey enhancements on either side.  Nice selections for Restaurant Week—I had the Wedge with bacon and egg (sort of a breakfast salad) a Kobe Flat Iron Steak (waaaaaay too peppery) and a Black Forest Chocolate Cheesecake with Cherries (tasted a lot like fudge.)  We had a side of Macaroni and Cheese that was tasty but not Hibiscus-swoony.  All in all it was good, not great, and not sure I’d return since the room really gives me the chills.  I think Tilda Swinson (ice queen from Narnia) decorated it.

Service was good if uninspired.  Alex Cole, the manager, is a rock star and seemed to be everywhere at once, touching tables, running the door, keeping the potties tidy—you name it, he was doing it.
