Disher Review #1: The Mansion

Our first Restaurant Week reader review is in! You make us so happy. Follow the jump to hear all the deets about the Disher’s dining experience at the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek (hint: she liked it). And please, send more reviews in when you can.

(And apologies for the late-ish post, our internet has been down all morning long).

This is how a “restaurant week” restaurant should be!  I had high hopes for the Mansion and they did not disappoint.

We started off in the bar for a round of the signature cocktails.  I had the “Gazpacho” martini which is like a light version of a bloody mary but served up.  No tomato juice in it but the essence of a bloody mary came across in the infused vodka.  It was spicy and flavorful and served with a cherry tomato garnish.

We then went into the dining room to be seated.  No shuffling off to the corner but instead we had a perfect table off in the glass enclosed area.  Once seated they presented you with a note from the Mansion and the General Manager thanking you for dining there, which was a nice touch.

They had four starters, four entrees and two desserts.  This included the additional starter and an entrée for an “up charge”.

Our table of four tried almost everything, but a big hit was the fava bean, baby arugula and pecorino salad with truffle oil.  It was just delightful and a wonderful blend of flavors in your mouth.  I could eat it again right now!!

Additionally, all of the entrees impressed us.  Our server was very knowledgeable about the entrées and did a super job of describing the Artic Char to us which most of us had not had before.  I do not eat diary, and they were so accomodating to make the adjustments for me.  One of my friends did upgrade to the short ribs and I believe it was the most impressive dish of the night.

They rounded out the meal with mini macaroons and mini homemade peach jellies.  (like gumdrops!)  The wine pairings were great also.

But most importantly we were treated exceptionally, not that we expected anything less from the Mansion, and it was truly one of my all time best restaurant week experiences.  Our server was Susan and she was a pro!!

And of course, I will go back for a special occasion or take a seat and have another martini outside on the patio when the weather cools down.  That is what restaurant week is all about.
