The Perfect Luncheon

We’ve had many people write in recently inquiring about the perfect place to host a rehearsal dinner, baby shower, etc. Though many of you have offered up wonderful suggestions, here’s one that I’m certain will pan out. Last week I hosted a surprise birthday luncheon at Arcodoro & Pomodoro for my mother and 30 of her nearest and dearest. The party went off without a hitch and I couldn’t have been more pleased with the food and the staff. From personalized mini-menus to lighthearted servers, this quaint Italian restaurant ended up being the ideal place to throw a simple, yet spectacular party. Jump to hear more about this fabulous gathering spot….

The setting could not have been more inviting had I thrown it in my own home. We dined privately in the balcony room, which seats 45 and has windows overlooking the patio of the restaurant. Restrooms were also located on the second floor, so guests don’t have to hoof it downstairs. They have a breathtaking wine cellar that’s also available for private functions and seats 12. It was my first choice, but we had too many women attending.

The event planners, Abby and Alison, were lovely to work with and helped me create the perfect menu for my guests that didn’t exceed the budget I had set. (In fact, when all was said and done, I came in under.) We discussed food and wine for the menu that included a variety of choices, not the same boring things you see all the time (Ahem, grilled chicken). Our servers printed out personalized menus that read “Happy 60th Birthday Dianne” and set them at each place setting.

Lunch began with a mozzarella and prosciutto salad, drizzled with a reduction of balsamic vinegar. The ladies were then offered gnocchi with a basil pesto, risotto with shrimp and calamari or veal medallions with crispy sage. Dessert was either a creamy Italian cheesecake or a luscious tiramisu, both sinful but worth every calorie.

My mother was so surprised, the ladies were so impressed and no one could stop asking how I found this place and how perfect it was. The staff was such a pleasure to work with that it made planning and executing the party smooth and stress free. In fact, when we were leaving my mother turned to me and said, “We should have your bridal luncheon here.” Well Mom, I couldn’t agree with you more.
