Passion

The collector.

the

collector

Barbara Teel is not exactly an artist, but she sees like one. When she stumbled upon a 6-inch plastic utility light at the hardware store, a light went off in her head. “I knew I absolutely needed more of them,” she says. “They were gorgeous.” She did a bit of hoarding, and, after she had collected 100, she created the “Wall of a Hundred Moons,” which presides over an Eames chair in the living room. Barbara definitely has a moon thing. For seven years, on the evening of every full moon, she has gathered a group of friends—the Lunetics—who share her passion. Or did. “Originally, we would read moon poems and look through telescopes and learn about the sky,” she says. “Now we mostly eat and drink.”
