H&M will change your life.

The people at cheap and chic clothing store H&M sure like their secrecy. for years, rumors have spread that the Swedish store was coming to Dallas. Each time, people got excited. They began perusing the website to see what fashion-forward frock they’d purchase (H&M doesn’t allow online shopping, which only adds to its intrigue). They bought tents for camping out when H&M would release its next big designer label. They threw away all their old clothes because, finally, H&M, the grown-up’s Forever 21, was coming. But then nothing happened. That is, until last October, when H&M’s marketing department finally released the long-awaited news: H&M will come to Dallas in the second half of 2011. The store will have 24,000 square feet. And it’ll be located in NorthPark Center. And the chain believes strongly in the Texas market, the press release says. But if you want more details than that, you’re going to have to go back to the rumors.

But it doesn’t really even matter. While trendy shoppers in Houston and Austin bemoan that they once again were passed over, Dallas fashionistas can just sit back and wait and be content knowing the one thing they need to know: H&M is coming. —KRISTA NIGHTENGALE
