1. Three Grand Prairie police officers and a dispatcher were suspended without pay (the officers for 21 days; the dispatcher for 28) for forwarding racist e-mails on city computers. Now we’ll move onto the media critique portion of this entry. Katie Fairbank writes that the e-mail in question “appeared to be about President Barack Obama” (emphasis mine). Later, here’s a description of the actual e-mail: “The first e-mail included an image of Air Force One with a tail number whose letters and digits resembled the N-word.” Who else could someone argue that appeared to be about?
2. Squeaky Fromme, one of Charles Manson’s most prominent acolytes, is scheduled to be released from a Fort Worth federal prison next week. Predicition: she is back in the joint inside of two years. Not because she can’t stay away from a life of crime, but because she can’t live outside of prison. Seriously, she’s 60, a former member of the Manson family, and she’s been in jail since the 1970s. I wouldn’t even move the stuff out of her cell.
3. The 13th annual Mayor’s Back to School Fair — with medical screenings and free school supplies — is a solid idea, especially with the economy still sucking air. But I was just watching coverage of the event on Good Day. Yeesh. I’ll say this: the only back to school fair I would attend with that many people would be devoted to this.
