MARK CUBAN: A FAN OF THE ECDYSIAST

|

A tipping (and likely tippling) FrontBurnervian told me that Cuban was spotted at The Lodge Saturday, June 10. This would have been a couple of days after Game 2, when it looked like the Mavs would cruise to a championship. Because we never, ever, ever publish unsubstantiated rumors here on FrontBurner, I asked The Lodge’s comely owner, Dawn Rizos, if Cuban had been in. In short, yes. In long, Dawn says:

While normally we don’t say much about our customers out of respect for their privacy, I don’t think he’d mind my letting you know that he has been a patron here for years. He’s come in with business associates and once brought the whole team [ed: ecdysiast to Mavs player: “Is that a Didier Ilunga-Mbenga in your pants, or are you just happy to get a table dance from me?”]. I can also tell you that he never drinks when he’s here and he’s never gotten a table dance. (While I know that might surprise some, surely you know that there’s more to the Lodge than just pretty women, right?)

In fact, Mark Cuban is hosting an event at the Lodge next week along with Carlos Martinez, the kicker for the Dallas Desperados. They are having the Diesel Fighting Championships at American Airlines Center on Friday, July 30, and we’re having the official weigh-in and a media dinner the day before, Thursday, July 29. It should be a lot of fun. I really hope you can make it. It would be great to see you again. And please feel free to bring your wife, Christine!

That’s something Cuban and I share in common. I, too, have never had a drink nor a table dance at The Lodge. In fact, I don’t even know what a table dance is.
