This month, we’re asking some of our friends in the local design scene to list five things they love and can’t live without. If you missed the last two installments, read them here and here. Today is a very special Storage Wars Texas edition. (Anyone else addicted to the A&E reality show?) SMU grad Jenny Grumbles Koziol, one of the stars of the show, is also the owner of Uptown Country Home in Snider Plaza, a go-to for refurbished vintage furniture and accessories. She’s an also an artist, and her paintings have been sold in shops throughout Texas, Georgia, and California. Below she fills us in on what makes her happy, where she goes to feed her french fry craving, and what she’s collecting right now.

Dash & Albert Rugs: “For every room in my house, even the patio. They are durable and versatile, and come in every style from vintage inspired to dhurrie-like stripes and modern geometrics. They are the best-seller in my store and very affordable. The best part is that we have every single swatch for you to check out like a library book. Rugs are so hard to choose, so taking them home before you decide helps.”
Steak Frites from Neighborhood Services: “In 33 years of living, this is my favorite meal. Hands down. It is perfect every time they make it. I crave the secret voodoo sauce in my sleep and I wish they had a drive-through.”
Vintage Italian Wood Florentine Trays: “I am gathering up a collection in all shapes and sizes so I can hang them all together in an arrangement on the wall. I love the bright colored ones with gold accents.”
La Fiorentina Fabric by David Hicks: “Every color this pattern comes in is gorgeous. I have a lot of vintage in my decor so I like mixing this bold graphic pattern which is less predictable than the chevron or the Ikat. It’s also a classic that I doubt will ever go out of style. A little bit of it on a throw pillow or a bench can stretch style a long way.”
Giant Cloches & Apothecary Jars: “I don’t put things away in anything but jars and cloches now. The floral centerpieces at all the tables at my wedding were all under gigantic cloches. My husband hoards fancy hotel shampoos so I threw all of his collection in a huge jar in the guest bath. An unexpected item on display under a cloche is the beginning of a great vignette.”
