I actually took my own advice and went to a venue I recommended on this very list last night. As I mentioned in yesterday’s Things To Do, Sundown at Granada held a video premiere for Lord Byron, which featured a performance by the artist. It was well-attended for a Tuesday night, and getting a Peticolas draft for $3.50 helped move things along quite pleasantly. There was also a closing set of music by Air DJ, who played the D Magazine election night party a couple of years ago. Now I’m just getting nostalgic, and it gets even worse when I go back and watch this highlight reel.

Speaking of local clips, if you’ve ever sat around wondering how much work goes into a wall-sized mural that completely swallows an art gallery (of course you have) then I have a video you should see. Design District gallery Circuit 12 posted this mesmerizing video of the creation of James M. Rizzi’s Linescapes mural yesterday, and it’s a staggering multi-day feat that unfolds in just under six minutes. The clip was posted just yesterday and is an excellent reminder that the show is still on view through the end of August. Consider a quick drive over to Oak Lawn for dinner at PakPao after visiting the gallery. I have a hard time ever turning down their delightfully revisionist Thai food and generous Chula-rita cocktails.

Meanwhile in Uptown, there will be a fashion show at Sisu that is billed as Beauty and the Beach. Swimwear will be showcased (obviously), specifically the wares of the Bask and Rodi boutiques, respectively. Dallas DJ Jus-Stone, otherwise known as Justin Bell, will handle the music selections. I know the nearest ocean is about 240 miles away, but close your eyes and just use your imagination a little.
