More Charley Pride Greatness

|

From a friend-having FBvian comes this gem:

Here is my favorite Charley Pride story: my best friend in high school lived on Tanbark, just north of Royal and east of Inwood.  This was also Mr. Pride’s neighborhood.  Right after Mr. Pride moved in, he was out mowing his lawn. The lady who lived next door, who had not yet met him and apparently  did not recognize him, pulled up to his yard and asked if he would please mow her yard when he finished that one.  He said “Certainly.”  When he finished BOTH lawns, he went up to her door and rang the bell. When the lady of the house answered the door and scurried off to get her checkbook to pay the yard man, Mr. Pride said, “Hi, I’d like to introduce myself. I’m Charley Pride, your new neighbor.”
