The Tried and True, the burger, beer, and whiskey restaurant/bar operated by Nick “Neighborhood Services”  Badovinus has served its last Old Rip Van Winkle neat. “We closed on Sunday night,” Badovinus says. “This place is just not us.”

Badovinus debated closing when the lease came up for renewal last year, but he decided to give the space another year. Today, he didn’t renew the lease and closed early. “It’s not Henderson, it’s us,” Badovinus says. “If we had a better mousetrap it would do fine. This area has ton of momentum we wouldn’t have done the extra year deal if we didn’t believe in this area.”

Badovinus will not open another concept in the space. He’s focused on “opening three doors.” That would be the new Off-Site Kitchen in Trinity Groves (Spring) and Neighborhood Services in Addison (April-May) and….Well, he’s not saying.
