I don’t know about you, but I really enjoy petting zoos. You’ll have a better understanding why I do as you continue reading. Point is, I’m going to Grand Prairie tomorrow because of a petting zoo. Have I already talked about these before? Sorry, I love animals. Enough about that, continue reading to find out where to drink booze and eat food.
Friday
In honor of Deep Ellum Brewing Company’s Dallas Blonde turning one, they are throwing a big party to celebrate. The festivities and beer will be at the Katy Trail Ice House starting at 5 p.m. to continue throughout the night. So down a glass of the blondie outside on the patio tonight.
Saturday
Show some love to your farmers market this weekend. Grand Prairie has a petting zoo this weekend. (I have a new obsession with goats, and I really want one for my birthday. It’s [cough] August 14.) Also, the Dallas Farmers Market has its second to last cooking class of the summer series with Tracy Miller. And the White Rock Local Market is an “everything market,” which literally means it has everything available that you could think of – even crochet ray guns.
Traders Village is ampin’ up their $1 Hot Dog Day and adding the “All You Can Eat” Hot Dog Challenge. Admission is free and only $3 to park. Great price, hot dogs, and a DJ – perfect for the first summer Saturday of August.
Sunday
Lark on the Park has just started brunch service. Those blueberry pancakes on the brunch menu look divine.
Lakewood Brewing Company is also celebrating one year of success. This anniversary party will reveal its first anniversary beer. There will also be live music and limited beers on tap throughout the party that starts at 1 p.m. at Goodfriend Beer Garden and Burger House.
Marley Dablo is a D Magazine intern and she will be an online journalism senior at the University of Oklahoma in the fall. She plans to attend culinary school upon graduation in hopes of combining her writing and culinary skills to ultimately have her own cooking show one day.
