Meadows Prize Recipient Enda Walsh Takes Home Tony During ‘Once’ Sweeps

The musical Once, with a book written by 2011 Meadows Prize recipient Enda Walsh, was the big winner at last night’s Tony Awards. In addition to winning the statuette for best book of a musical, Once won for best musical, best actor in a musical (Steve Kazee), best direction (John Tiffany), orchestrations (Martin Lowe), scenic design (Bob Crowley), lighting (Natasha Katz), and sound design (Clive Goodwin).

Other big winners last night included Peter and the Starcatcher, which picked up five awards. The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess (which features former DTC acting company member Cedric Neal) won for best revival and best actress (Audra McDonald).

Lystistrata Jones, which got its start as a Dallas Theater Center production and was up for best book against Walsh, came up short.
