All the Animals You Can Do Yoga With in Dallas (So Far…)

Do downward dog with kittens, puppies, goats and more.

Full disclosure: I went to Dallas’ first goat yoga class in June, and I fully intend on attending Dallas’ first puppy yoga class in September. I love this stuff, and I also know that it can be deeply silly. But if you also like the occasional workout that’s about 5 percent yoga and 95 percent cuddling, here’s a collection of all the animals you can say Namaste to in town.

Goat Yoga

By Bret Redman

Deep Ellum Yoga was the first to unite adorably pygmy goats and yoga this summer, quickly followed by Goat Yoga Richardson. No Dallasite will ever have to do yoga goat-less again, thank goodness.

Puppy Yoga

Corepower Yoga and Agile Clinics are uniting to bring you puppy yoga this September, with adoptable adorableness will be provided by Operation Kindness. I’m guessing this workout will just be puppies with a dash of yoga, but I’m cool with that.

Kitten Yoga

Hosted by 3Tree Yoga in Fort Worth, these kitten-filled classes benefit Spay Neuter Network. Be mindful of tiny kitten claws and the powerful urge to adopt every four-legged yogi.

Dog Yoga

By Chris McGathey

On occasion, the Jewish Community Center of Dallas will host a dog yoga class, which has proven to be beneficial (and surprisingly tranquil) for all parties involved.

Cat Yoga

The SPCA of Texas has a beautiful facility in general, but their Cat Rotunda (which evokes a fish bowl when viewed from a roomy cat condo) is particularly noteworthy. Keep an eye out for yoga classes held in the room, where you can be the ultimate entertainment for adoptable felines.

Zoo Yoga (So Basically All the Animals)

At the Dallas Zoo, kids ages three to seven are welcome to do yoga among the animals. And while I do approve of teaching basic yoga moves at an early age, I’m a little less sure of the web page’s decision to describe the class as “WILD, animal-style yoga.”
