What I’m Watching: Jamie Benn, Millenium Man

Plus: the Mavs' next move and the Cowboys' arch-nemesis in the Super Bowl.

Jason Robertson scored in his first NHL All-Star game, while Sloane Stephens and Madison Keys kicked off the Dallas Open with a bang. Luka Doncic? Well, he made it back from an ankle injury, only to go down with a bruised right heel. He’ll be out of tonight’s game against Utah. Will his next time in uniform be alongside the newly acquired Kyrie Irving?

Here’s what I’m watching this week:

Monday, 2/6 through Thursday, 2/9—The Mavericks’ Next Moves—The Internet

Dallas made its big swing yesterday, which you can read my thoughts on here. If they bummed you out, just know that Zac Crain will have his tomorrow, and they’ll probably cheer you up a bit. But whether you’re in or out in Kyrie, know that it was likely not the team’s last trade before Thursday afternoon’s deadline. Jake Kemp will have his reaction to whatever goes down on Friday morning.

Monday, 2/6—Jamie Benn’s 1,000th career gameBally Sports Southwest, 7:30 p.m.

The captain becomes Dallas’ second-ever player to hit the millennium mark with the franchise (Mike Modano was the first) when the Stars take on the Ducks. Sean Shapiro will have a little more on that and a lot more in a conversation with Pete DeBoer coming later this week.

Sunday, 2/12—Super Bowl LVII5:30 p.m., FOX

Cowboys fans have an obvious rooting interest in this one—unless, that is, you relish the thought of the Eagles winning two Super Bowls since the last time Dallas claimed one—but you don’t need a dog in the fight to enjoy the greatest quarterback of his era (Patrick Mahomes) square off against the position’s breakout star (Jalen Hurts).
