Women in Play Luncheon

Golf enthusiasts of North Texas will gather on Wednesday, October 2 to celebrate the legendary women of LPGA, including Kathy Whitworth.

Kathy Whitworth

Whitworth holds 88 victories over a span of 23 years—more than any other professional golfer in history, male or female. A respected member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, Whitworth paved the way for other LPGA players.

Suzy Whaley, president and the first woman ever elected to serve as an officer of the PGA of America, will serve as a featured speaker. Whaley will reflect on the impact women have made in golf and the future of female engagement and participation in the sport. Lisa Cornwell, anchor of Golf Central on the Golf Channel, will serve as the emcee for the event.

Volunteers of America Classic Tournament Week

The 2019 Women in Play Luncheon is part of the Volunteers of America Classic Tournament Week, an official LPGA tour event. The seven-day event, beginning Monday, September 30, is centered around a four-round classic, but also includes a plethora of empowering events and opportunities to socialize with fellow golf lovers.

A women’s leadership summit on October 1 will feature a panel of professionals from a variety of industries (see a list of participants here) and offer ample opportunity for networking and professional and personal growth. The Tribute Trail 5k on October 5 will be held at Old American Golf Club, where picturesque trails feature views of Lake Lewisville. And stop by the Tailgate on the Green (held throughout the classic) to experience live music, local vendors, and activities. A kids’ zone is also on hand to occupy the littlest golf fans.
