Michael Smith and the White House

|

I had the chance to talk with Michael Smith at the Ann Sacks party on Thursday.  No, he wouldn’t give me any clues as to the design schemes of the Obama white house, but he had nothing but good things to say about the Bush’s decorator Ken Blasingame and said the quarters were very well done.  Now if only the Congress could be so bi-partisan.  The last time I visited with Smith was at this last book signing at the David Sutherland showroom.  He had projects all over the world, but none in Dallas, and asked me why.  We re-visited that topic and he said he still has no Dallas clients.  I can only attribute it to the abundance of great talent here in Dallas, that really pretty few people go to NY or LA to choose a decorator.  Of course, there is that snob appeal of having what no one else has.  I bet we see a Michael Smith project here withing the year.
