What other charity could get away with auctioning off a live longhorn steer? And this living symbol of Texas is only one of several clever and exciting items scheduled to go on the auction block at this year’s Cattle Baron’s Ball. Seven-year Cattle Baron’s veteran and 1996 Auction Chairman Shelley Calloway wouldn’t have it any other way. She’s thrilled to see a year’s worth of planning become a reality.
A bass boat, a trip to Paris, a riding horse, and mountains of designer baubles will add further intrigue to what promises to be a night full of Texas-style fun. “It’s so exciting to see how the efforts of hundreds of people create a very special evening,” says Shelley. “The party is so much fun for the guests, while being beneficial to the cause.”
This is the fifth year Kaleidoscope Decor has produced the Cattle Baron’s Ball, and as an event planner for the company, Shelley finds it very satisfying to be involved with the production of such an important event to her personally. In the future, Shelley plans to remain focused on making Cattle Baron’s one of the most respected organizations in Dallas by raising money and keeping people interested in the cause year after year.
“Cattle Baron’s is a wonderful organization that is both fun and extremely fulfilling,” Shelley says. “It’s a great opportunity for all of us involved to give something back to the community in a very meaningful way.”
