HABITAT Comfort Zone

|

As the days grow shorter and the nights begin to cool, fluffy comforters and mounds of pillows entice us to linger beneath the sheets. Fall is the time to re-dress the white-linened beds of summer with layers of warm colors. Comfort becomes a key word, prompting us to nestle beneath the weight of feather-stuffed covers. ■ Designer Craig Morehouse (above) has taken comfort one step further. Having left behind a career in real estate, he now runs his own business creating luxurious products for the home. Inspired by the richness and diversity of fabrics, he fashions lush bed accessories from damask and other intricately woven materials. ■ Here, Morehouse’s duvet cover ($625), pillow shams ($120 each), 22″ pillows ($140 each) and bolster ($185) tailored in an Adirondack blanket fabric heighten the frontier feeling of Stuart Kraft’s Barcelona bed. Muslin draped over the tester above the headboard softens its elegant, yet rugged iron curves.
