THUMBS DOWN to DISD Supt, MARVIN EDWARDS for granting raises-ranging from 4 percent to 31 per-cent-to some two dozen top administrators. After the teacher layoffs this fall, the timing could not be worse. Most DISD board members didn’t even know about the raises, but the more crucial question is priorities. Even granting that the bureaucrats deserve their reward, what about the teachers, who had to make do with 4 percent raises? Who’s more important to our kids?
