FOLLOW UP Last April we reported that the owners of the 73 houses in the Harrington Heights neighborhood of Irving were frantic with worry that the new D/FW east-side runway would make their homes unlivable. Good news for them: if the new runway is approved, the airport has promised to buy every home, at a total cost that will probably exceed $10 million. But what of the 140 homes in the nearby Broadmore Hills neighborhood, some of them just scant yards away from Harrington Heights? Almost every yard sports a “Buy Us Out!” sign, but an airport spokesman says it’s not likely to happen. “We don’t need that property for the runway,” says the spokesman.
