Bet the new EastPark National Bank won’t have any major security problems when it opens its doors this month: two of its directors and investors are the number one and two men at the Dallas Police Department. Documents recently made public by the bank indicate that Dallas Police Chief Billy Prince and Assistant Police Chief Harold Warren each have a $200,000 investment in the bank.



Used to be that Will Rogers was the only man Fort Worth thought enough of to memorialize in life-size bronze, Now there’s another man of equal statue, er, stature: Benny Binion, former Dallas hoodlum and current Las Vegas casino owner whose life-sized replica, clad in western attire, now sits on a horse in front of that grand-daddy of honky-tonks. Billy Bob’s Texas. Inscribed on a plaque on the base of the statue: “The only man who loved children as much as my father”- Billy Bob Barnett.



This one may sound like an Aggie joke, but Dallas leasing magnate Jerry Fults swears it actually happened. Fults’ secretary apparently was able to screen an unwanted caller for a week, but the caller persevered until he finally received an audience over the phone one recent weekday afternoon.

“I’m calling about The Crescent,” the man said. “I’d like to buy it. I saw the sign out in front that said 1.25 million, I bet the property alone is worth that.”

The sign referred to 1.25 million square feet of leasing space.
