JUST CALL HER ANGEL OF THE MORNING

|

Nancy Wilson is a 35-year-old ex-banker who once bought and sold $50 million in Federal Reserve funds each day at Austin National Bank. For the past few years, however, her primary responsibilities have included raising her two young daughters. Recently, Wilson, who admits to being a little bored at home, gave in to her creative appetite to do something for the appetites of others. Now, she’s started Breakfast by Nancy, a pamper-for-a-price service offering the last word in breakfast in bed.

For $100, Wilson serves one or two people a tasty, elaborate three-course breakfast. She brings her own portable kitchen, two large white bed trays and a pair of eyelet pillow rests to her client’s home. The only thing a customer need do is answer the door and point the way to the stove.

Wilson’s breakfast service begins with steamy towels, freshly cut mums and carnations, a cup of coffee, hot chocolate or a mimosa. Next comes a slice of home-baked poppyseed and zucchini walnut bread and a large bowl of freshly cut fruits topped with poppyseed dressing.

Wilson’s clients can pick from a menu of nine different entrees served with butter and homemade biscuits. They range from traditional breakfast selections-omelettes, creepes and eggs Benedict-to more exotic dishes such as eggs in brandied cream sauce, crab meat and eggs New Orleans, poached eggs with asparagus and chicken, Pina Colada pancakes in rum sauce, Danish smorrebrod, and baked eggs and mushrooms. (We sampled the asparagus, chicken and egg entree and were impressed.) Wilson serves her clients any time between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m., which enables her to schedule more than one breakfast each day.
