THUMB AWARD DART FOES

|

Thumbs Down to U.S. Rep. Jim Collins, Dallas Coun-cilperson Elsie Faye Heggins and the various other groups trying to rustle up opposition to Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DAK 1). Despite the unanimous support of city councils and chambers of commerce affected by DART, Collins claims that, “We, the people, are stronger than any establishment.” So what? Neither Collins, nor any other organization opposing DART has come up with alternate solutions for our transportation problems. Moreover, the fact that we haven’t appointed an established, responsible group to head our transportation program is the reason our problem is reaching dangerous proportions. We need a group to get a transportation plan under way now; that group is DART. The DART plan will be placed before voters in August. If it is defeated, we can kiss growth in Dallas goodbye. Then would Collins, Heggins and the rest be satisfied?
