If you thought you saw Morley Safer of CBS’ “Sixty Minutes” nosing around town lately, you were right. Safer and crew are preparing a segment on the city of Dallas for an upcoming show. CBS has kept the show under fairly tight p.r. wraps thus far, but word is that Safer has quietly been interviewing a cross section of successful Dallas characters, including coach Tom Landry, sports magnate Lamar Hunt, real estate man Sherwood Blount, and restaurateur Gene Street. Location shooting has been done in places like Neiman-Marcus, Bent Tree Country Club, Turtle Creek, and Cutter Bill’s. By all accounts, the gist of the show will be highly flattering to Dallas, painting it as a “still-fantastic frontier.” Best guess is that the segment will be held for airing in the new September TV season and would likely play off of CBS’ highly successful other version of “Dallas.”
