According to City Hall sources, Mayor Bob Folsom may not be the only major city official considering retirement from public life in the near future, indications are City Manager George Schrader, 47, is seriously considering the same prospect, possibly as early as September.
The expertise Schrader has shown in managing a city staff of 12,000 and a city budget of $312 million places him in the top rank with executives of America’s largest corporations. One city councilman, in responding to the reports or Schrader’s imminent departure, said, “I only hope we can get him to stay in Dal-las.”
