This year, the Dallas Market Center (DMC) celebrates six decades in business. Among the many reasons to gain entrance: the highly anticipated, glitteringly new Interior Home + Design Center (IHDC). The 220,000-square-foot renovation, housed in the former International Trade Plaza building, marks the largest expansion of to-the-trade home decor showrooms at DMC in more than four decades. It’s also the first phase in a two-part development to be completed this fall.
The space serves as a central venue for home furnishings, along with easy access to five floors of interiors in the adjoining World Trade Center.
Showrooms include homegrown companies Ambella Home Collection and Taylors, while The Gallery at IHDC, a 36,000-square-foot shared showroom, encompasses a mix of sellers. Architect Paul Dickel of Nancy G. Leib and Paul T. Dickel Architectural and Interior Design is behind much of the interiors, which are beautifully resplendent in white oak and Carrara marble. “This expansion of luxury home showrooms will help build even greater traffic and deliver a new kind of energy to all buildings at DMC,” says Cindy Morris, DMC president and CEO. Not to mention it establishes the center as the largest design resource in the country.
