The Mission:
Find and photograph an antique that speaks to you.

The Find:
A Louis XIV-style vanity with laurel and acanthus leaf detailing and mirror with brass pineapple finials.

What was the draw?
“Cat Street, Magazine Street—shopping on Slocum is no different. I met some wonderful dealers, learned a thing or two, and found this vanity. I wouldn’t ordinarily be drawn to this style, but my parents had a Louis XIV-style bedroom suite when I was a child in Hong Kong. Anyway, I like the way the piece becomes a work of art against a plain white wall.”
