D CEO welcomed 400 attendees on September 15, for its fourth annual Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Symposium. The event was held at the Renaissance Dallas Hotel and brought together the organizations and leaders working to make workplaces more inclusive and equitable. 

D Magazine Partners President Gillea Allison welcomed the guests, while Publisher Noelle LeVeaux and D CEO, editor Christine Perez moderated the panels. The opportunities to connect were strengthened through two networking sessions. 

Candid panels and presentations from top leaders focused in the theme “The Business of Belonging,” and provided a crucial backdrop for insightful conversations, lessons learned, and key takeaways. Here is a glimpse into the half-day Symposium: 

Opening Keynote:

“From Bias to Belonging” with Lisa M. Ong, founder of Wishing Out Loud.


Panel Discussion:

“The Journey to Belonging” featuring Eric Bradley of Thomson Reuters, Brad Pritchett of Dallas Museum of Art, Dylan Rafaty of C-Hear and North Texas Disability Chamber, and Jeanette Schutz of Dallas College.

“Finding Our Way: One Company’s Journey to Equity” with Brad Ramsey, President and General Manager at WFAA


Fireside Chat:

“The Business of Belonging” with Victoria Russell and Cherice Williams of Beam Suntory

“Impact Begins with Belonging” with DEI leader Cristina Candia Lopez


Panel Discussion:

“Creating a Culture of Belonging” with TC Alexander of Bank of Texas, Sakina Foster of Haynes and Boone, and Cheryl Richards of Visit Dallas


Closing Keynote:

“7 Seconds to Belonging” with DEI leader Chris Moreland of Moreland Accord 


Attendees also received a copy of the Big D Reads paperback edition of The Accommodation and a special corporate book club reading guide to bring back to their colleagues.
