Christopher Peacock Reveals a New Collection

The “Hudson” adds a modern spin on the brand's classic British look.

We’ve long been fans of Christopher Peacock—the custom cabinetry company with a showroom on Oak Lawn Avenue— so it’s no surprise that we’re excited to find the namesake designer has released a new collection: The Hudson.

Though the brand’s classic British cabinetry style is still very much accounted for, The Hudson represents a more modern or contemporary take. “We’re never going to try and be an ultra-modern company,” says Peacock. “For us, I tend to be more restrained in terms of how we do our version of modern. But people are coming to us—they want our quality but in a simpler style.”

After working on a project of luxury apartments in New York City, Peacock got inspired to design the collection. Peacock takes into account not only the cabinetry itself and the door style but the hardware—including metalwork and stone. “It’s lots of tiny little details about brackets and screws and metal-edging on drawers and paint finishes, and even down to the countertop material and those selections,” says Peacock.

A display of the collection was recently installed in the Chicago showroom. Peacock explains that the collection, though offering a fresher take, stays true to his company’s overall aesthetic. “It fills a gap for us … but it’s not going to look different,” he says. The feeling of authenticity remains, he adds.

Like all pieces offered by Christopher Peacock, the collection is completely customizable depending on the individual project—down to hardware and paint finishes. “We design individual rooms of cabinetry for individuals, so whilst we might start off with a certain collection as the basic of the design, it’s very customizable; nothing it pre-made or pre-built,” he says. “The selections are really up to one’s imagination.”

Following its October release, the Hudson collection is now available to clients.
