Maybe it’s all the back to school commercials, or the mercifully cooler Dallas temperatures, but I’m beginning to feel nostalgic for summer before it’s even ended. But not the heat. I, like the black pug named Edgar that I forced to hang outside with me this weekend, do not do heat. But you know where I could do heat? 1400 Governors Cove Court.

Yeah, I mean, I could do heat lakeside, admiring my waterfront view from the sitting area of my lovely main level master bedroom or the screened in porch.  I could even do heat out in the actual elements; the handsomeness of my flagstone patio would distract me. I would probably avoid the … concrete driveway, but, you know, it’s just nice that it’s there. Yes, even if I had to wear sunscreen indoors thanks to my stately, oversized windows, I’d be fine with it! I could totally do heat knowing I could easily retreat beneath the …’s beautiful beamed ceilings, and that I could fill its many built-ins with fans and ice water if my heart so desired.

Sure, I don’t currently have $1.5 million to spare on a lakehouse in the exclusive, gated community of The Ranch on Possum Kingdom Lake; I know that! But a girl can dream of finally being cool with the Dallas heat one day, and that’s a dream worth fighting for.
