The famous Mount Vernon estate, White Rock Lake’s cherished historical home, is nearly a century old. Built as a replica of George and Martha Washington’s estate in Virginia, the home has had only two owners in its past six decades: oil tycoon H.L. Hunt’s family  in 1938 and the current owners, John and Teresa Amend. The couple completed a massive renovation of the home in 2002, and recently listed it with Allie Beth Allman for $17.5 million, allowing real estate-lovers the opportunity to virtually tour the enviable estate.

From the retro bowling alley to the formal dining room, we take a look at nine of Mount Vernon’s must-see features.
