Dallas County reported 1,000 new cases and 20 deaths Tuesday. Sixteen were reported in Dallas, two in Duncanville, and one each in Cedar Hill and Grand Prairie, NBC5 reports.
Around 2,000 COVID-19 cases can be traced back to childcare centers across Texas. In the last two weeks, cases linked to daycare centers in the state have risen 110 percent, according to Fox4.
As the state tries to contain the spread of COVID-19, Texa still reports more than 10,000 patient hospitalizations and is considered one of the country’s most active hot spots. Read more here.
Locally, some hospitals, such as Parkland Memorial Hospital, are preparing for an expected spike in COVID-19 patients needing hospitalization. Federal medical teams are on their way to one of the city’s largest facilities, in an effort to help treat the surge of patients, following requests from Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson. The Texas Tribune reports that hospitals are running out of drugs, beds, ventilators, and even staff.
