Just six percent of North Texas nursing homes were top ranked in short-term rehabilitation and long-term care while only 2.7 percent among the 15,530 statewide facilities had received the top rating in both sectors, according to U.S. News and World Report. Among the 129 North Texas nursing homes in the ranking, 16 locations have scored at least a four out of a scale of five. A score of five is bestowed to nursing homes with exceptional ratings in multiple dimensions.
Long-Term Care Ratings were added as a new measurement factor in the latest report. Data on staffing, pneumonia vaccination rates, and success rates in preventing ER visits were measured for precise calibration. This category was added to inform the quality of care provided by nursing homes for prospective residents who require aid with daily activities and are looking to stay long term with their loved ones guarding their side.
However, it seems as though not all Texas-based nursing homes are top notch. According to research provided by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, nursing homes in the Lone Star state topped its lists assessing negative categories. Texas has five nursing homes listed on the top 20 log of nursing homes with serious deficiencies, being the fourth in the country with nearly one serious violation per nursing home statewide.
Dallas-based nursing homes had an average rating of 2.96, and while Brentwood Place One scored a 3.0, a sexual assault took place there on November 10 in which Olander Grant, a registered sex offender, pinned a patient down on his bed to assault her multiple times.
