Melissa Aucoin has been named the new Chief Executive Officer of the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition after serving in an interim role as CEO since June.
Previously, Aucoin was the Director of Events and Operations, where she was responsible for the Dallas-based organization’s national events, such as the Run/Walk to Break the Silence on Ovarian Cancer.
According to the American Cancer Society, over 22,000 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer this year, and nearly 14,000 will die from the disease. Ranking fifth in deaths among women, one in 78 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer each year. Usually occurring in older women, women have a one in 108 chance of dying from the cancer. NOCC hopes to prevent and cure ovarian cancer and improve the lives of survivors.

Aucoin has been in the nonprofit world for nearly two decades and has a passion for women’s health. “I am beyond honored to have this opportunity to continue to lead and serve an organization that fights so tirelessly for the strong and courageous women impacted by ovarian cancer and I will work diligently each day to be an agent of change in this fight.” Aucoin said via release. “We’ve accomplished so much this last year united in our mission, and I am confident that together we will continue to heighten awareness, improve the quality of life for our Survivors and their families, and reach new advances in treatment and research.”
