How Dr. John Carlo—And the Dallas County Medical Society—Helped The Victims of Hurricane Harvey

|

Dr. John Carlo, who became the youngest president ever of the Dallas County Medical Society in January, was running on “caffeine and fumes” when he met with former D CEO Healthcare Editor Olivia Nguyen to discuss the DCMS response to Hurricane Harvey. In a story in the November issue of D CEO magazine, Carlo, 44, explained that it was his job to coordinate staffing for the city of Dallas’ “mega-shelter” for Harvey victims at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. His task included coordinating the schedules of thousands of DCMS member-physicians who served 4 to 8-hour shifts at the shelter, ensuring that storm victims had 24/7 medical services, from pediatrics to trauma.
