The first fitness facility in the district is a CrossFit outpost, dedicated to varied programming and small classes.

The first gym to set up shop in Victory Park is—no surprise—Victory Park CrossFit, and on Saturday, the location celebrated its grand-opening with a larger-than-life fitness event.

CrossFit can seem intense, but Co-Owner and Coach of Victory Park CrossFit Ozzie Kalil says it’s just the opposite. “Anyone can do CrossFit no matter what shape they are in.” said Kalil, who went from competitive training to knee pushups after surviving a stroke. “It’s the perfect way to workout for people trying to get fit.”

And so, Kalil and his partners opened up the striking studio in Victory Park where CrossFitters will have access to the high intensity, military-style workout in an urban setting (yes, the studio has bathrooms and showers). Best yet? The Katy Trail will soon expand to doorstep of Victory Park CrossFit and each class will be limited to 15 people to ensure that everyone gets proper form training from the coaches.

In addition to its posh facility, location, and small class sizes, Victory Park CrossFit stands apart from the others with its varied levels of programming. After mastering the core movements with a few beginner classes, members can quickly transition to “Fit” classes or cardio-based workouts full of bodyweight exercises, like pushups and squats and simple barbell movements. Next up, “Achieve” classes that feature Olympic lifting movements. Experienced CrossFitters will be able to mix and match Fit and Achieve programming to suit their needs.

Kalil says that CrossFit athletes are constantly mixing up their workout routine, which leads to them staying in great shape. If muscles are always confused, they are continuously trying to adapt, which makes them stronger. CrossFitters also take their heart rates up and down repeatedly, which leads to burning more calories throughout the day.

The new Victory Park is located at 2312 Victory Park Lane. Be one of the first 50 members to snag a special rate of $150/month for unlimited classes. Sign up now!
