The Classical Mix

Get a little high culture with your workout, you Philistine.

We’re going to tap the brakes this week on all of the high-energy pop music of previous Fit Mixes and instead take an extreme detour into the classical world. Due to their sheer length, symphonies and string quartets are the perfect accompaniment for an extended run, even if that’s likely not what the original composers had in mind. It’s much easier to get though a long-form piece of music trudging for miles at a time, as opposed to brief excerpts while merely running errands around town.

So take in a lengthy music-history lesson while you pant in vain down Swiss Avenue, around White Rock, or wherever your run takes you. It’s not all powdered wigs on this playlist, however, as a healthy portion of dramatic modern composition is showcased as well, beginning about halfway through the mix.
