City Might Be Giving You a Refund On Your Sanitation Bill. The rollout of the new trash pickup program has been such a pain that the city is considering kicking some money back to residents. It’s just being discussed at the moment, but it would appear that folks who had to wait over a week for a pickup would be eligible. Homeowners pay $35.81 a month for trash and recycling services.

Dallas Gets $2.3M For Backlogged Rape Kits. The Dallas Police Department has 1,899 sexual assault kits to test, more of than half of which date back to before 2011. The City Council approved the funding last month, which will pay for a three-year partnership with Bode Cellmark Forensics, Inc. to help the department clear what’s left.

Fort Worth Cop Killer Associate Gets 60 Years. Samuel Mayfield, 37, entered a guilty plea in the 2018 shooting death of Fort Worth Ofc. Garrett Hull. Mayfield wasn’t the shooter, but he was part of the trio that Hull was chasing after they robbed a bar. Prosecutors charged Mayfield with the officer’s death, despite his partner, Dacion Steptoe, pulling the trigger. Steptoe was shot and killed during the chase.
