Trinity River Park Plan Divides Council. The City Council united against the Trinity toll road yesterday, but members couldn’t agree on putting the park project in the hands of a local government corporation. The mayor, city manager, and city attorney support the use of a corporation, but others like Philip Kingston, Omar Narvaez, and Scott Griggs weren’t so sure. City Attorney Larry Casto said this type of group is the “most expedient” way to get the park done and that other Texas cities have used similar groups for projects.
Mayors from Dallas Suburbs Discuss Property Taxes with Gov. Abbott. Yesterday, the mayors of Arlington, Frisco, McKinney, and Irving met with Gov. Greg Abbott regarding the proposed property tax and annexation bills, which they oppose. They don’t think the legislation should apply to well-run budgets. “Just because we’re not for revenue caps doesn’t mean we want property taxes up. It’s exactly the opposite. Setting these revenue caps can have the opposite effect and there is no tax relief,” Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams said.

Wynnewood Village in Oak Cliff is Getting a Makeover. Brixmor Property Group, which owns Wynnewood Village along S. Zang Blvd. and Illinois Ave., plans to spend $30 million upgrading the decades-old shopping center. These upgrades include a theater, fitness center, and new landscaping.
