You already know Peter Simek murdered a butterfly during a trip to the State Fair. Tim came up with his punishment, but I’m not sure it fits the crime.

Craft and Growler  hosts “nonprofit Tuesday” this evening, which basically means that for every pint you drink there this evening, $1 benefits the Texas Discovery Gardens (the scene of the massacre). Craft and Growler’s Facebook page indicates even more taps have been installed, and that they have plenty of Deep Ellum Brewing Co.’s GOURDZilla. Meanwhile, the funds raised tonight will help the nonprofit garden (which includes the amazing butterfly house) purchase a camera to make educational videos for outreach.

Also tonight, the Bass Hall has all the thrills and chills you need, screening the 1931 black-and-white thriller Dracula. Forget made-for-TV monsters and emotionally abusive boyfriends. This is Bram Stoker’s story and Bela Lugosi’s Hungarian drawl. However, up until 1998, Tod Browning’s film didn’t have an appropriately chilling score. Composer Philip Glass was commissioned, and he created an orchestration for strings that syncs up with the original film. In the spirit of All Hallows’ Eve, Glass and his ensemble will perform the score live while the film is shown above. You can still get tickets online.
