Amazing night. Amazing morning.
In light of everything that’s gone down in the past 24 hours, Cyndi Lauper’s show at the House of Blues tonight strikes me as just so appropriate. The groundbreaking female artist and staunch LGBT ally has given us anthems like “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” marched in gay pride parades, won a Tony Award for the musical Kinky Boots (the main character dresses in drag; she’s the first woman to win for musical score without a male collaborator), written a book, and performed at the White House. Now that her first album, She’s So Unusual, is 30 years old, she’s out on tour celebrating the beginnings of her colorful career. Hunter Valentine supports.
Next up, there’s a vegan beer dinner at the Libertine. SideDish correspondent, photography prodigy, and I.T. maven Matthew Shelley attended their last dinner, an all-local brew feast, and was suitably impressed by both the food and the pairings. I don’t think you can go too far wrong. And it’s perfect, because you can just top the night off with a French 75. Call 214-824-7900 for reservations.
