That Nora Ephron quote about Shakespeare in the Park gets me every time.

My main man Joss Whedon does Much Ado About Nothing, and Shakespeare Dallas does A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Their summer season starts tonight with the romantic comedy before running concurrently with Pericles. It’s a perfect love quadrangle—Hermia loves Lysander, but she’s technically engaged to the Duke. Helena, their friend, loves Demetrius, but Demetrius is clueless. In order to keep Hermia from having to marry someone else, all four run off into the forest, where their lives and relationships are complicated by a bunch of meddling fairies. That happens a lot, probably.

We recommend packing a picnic, a chilled bottle of wine, and plenty of bug spray before settling in on the grass. It’s still a great deal—tickets are just ten bucks.

Elsewhere, Lavendou Bistro Provençal hosts a wine and cheese night with a four-course menu selected by Lavendou’s chef/owner Pascal Cayet, Scardello’s Rich Rodgers, and Scott Downs of World Wine Discoveries. Call for reservations.

For more to do tonight, including rapper Kendrick Lamar’s headlining gig at Verizon Theatre, go here.
