Cool! Old REM is some amazing, groundbreaking stuff.

  2. Jay says:

Wow, a whole night dedicated to the G, C and D chords.

  3. AK says:

As the biggest REM fan on earth, and the local-college-affiliated FBvian referenced above, I’d like to point out that you forgot A minor.

  4. Jay says:

    That’s page 4. Haven’t gotten there yet.

  5. Steve says:

    Grand Prairie isn’t “Town”.

Disgusting. REM at Nokia. Irony in 3 words, Alanis.

I understand that there’s no place in Deep Ellum big enough for this show (assuming, for the sake of argument, that Deep Ellum still exists as a viable concept), but the thought of going out to Nokia to see REM makes me vomit in my mouth. What’s next, Sex Pistols at the “Superpages.com” Center?

He may have been fictional, but Cliff Ponzier was right.

  7. Jay says:

I bet Steve Jones doesn’t know A minor either. IJS

  8. AK says:

This would have been a great show for the old Deep Ellum Live. Saw the Pumpkins there in the 90s… amazing place for that kind of show. But what can you do? “Progress” is progress.

  9. Wes Mantooth says:

    Or the Bomb Factory.

  10. AK says:

Jay: Complexity does not a good song make.

  11. Jay says:

    @ AK

Agreed my Yoda speaking friend. Just having some fun.

Full disclosure. I know a lot of chords and put them to use. Not sure how good the songs are though. Flame away.

What a great gig for the Old 97’s.

    Congrats!

    @ Jay

I like “Get Out Original” it’s good stuff. I listened pretty hard, though, and didn’t hear an A minor. I recommend it in place of the shredding around the 3:00 mark. Peter Buck would be proud. Trust me on this one.

  14. Josh Pearson says:

At least those other two guys proudly display their bald heads. Not like that guy on the far left who is covering his up…

  15. diahh says:

Michael Stipe/Moby. Have you ever seen them in the same place at the same time?

  16. Poodle says:

    this makes me very happy

  17. diahh says:

I see my weakly researched conspiracy theory was debunked in all of two minutes. Oh well, here’s my favorite REM song.

  18. amanda says:

REM @ SMU. 1985, maybe 1986. Michael Stipe wore a dress, thus confusing the frat boys. Possibly the greatest show of all time.

  19. The Edge says:

What’s all this discussion of a “third chord?”

  20. More Kunkle Bell says:

    REM = weak in concert
