UT Dallas Prof Gets His Freakonomics On

It's Stan versus the Freakonomics guyIt’s pocket protectors and iPods at 10 paces for Freakonomics author Steven D. Levitt and Stan J. Liebowitz (left), who professes economics at the University of Texas at Dallas. The Chronicle of Higher Education spells out the dispute: Levitt refused to publish an article penned by Liebowitz, who is clamoring for the release of data said to support arguments claiming that downloads aren’t hurting the music industry. Liebowitz’ argument seems sound — until data sets are released, conclusions based upon them can’t be proven. Liebowitz’ encumbrance: Some of his research is supported by the record industry.

Thanks to a loyal FrontBurnervian for the heads up.
