Eddie Izzard Likes Himself Some Ribs

|

I spent Saturday through Tuesday in Memphis at a city and regional magazine conference. On Sunday, we headed down Beale Street, looking for dinner. We stopped in front of EP Delta Kitchen, where I’d eaten a half a rack of BBQ ribs for lunch. As we were standing outside, I let four guys go in ahead of us. I stared at one of them and dropped my jaw. It was Eddie Izzard. He was standing two feet from me. I froze. I had nothing. He’s one of my favorite comedians, I had JUST watched Dressed to Kill the week before (for the 10th or 15th time). He went in, sat down with his mates (ENGLISH TERM!), and plowed into a plate of ribs. And I sat there and stared at him like a lovestruck girl. I’m such an idiot. I tell you all this because I just found out he’s playing a sold-out show at The Majestic tonight. Try to sneak in and see him. And tell him I said hello.
