My mention of the Stoneleigh Hotel’s drinking hole brought at least one memory to the fore for a FrontBurnervian:
I heard what is perhaps the greatest exchange ever between a patron and a bartender at the Lion’s Den years ago. Â A former smoker turned rabid anti-smoker asked the bartender if there was a non-smoking section there to which the bartender replied “we have two sections–smoking and chain smoking.”
And memory-having FrontBurnervian will no doubt recall the bar’s prominence in The Greatest Story D Has Ever Told, “Heartbreak Hotel,” by A.C. Greene.
